Hillshire Sausage and Rice Skillet

Even though cooking is one of my favorite things to do, there are days when I just don’t know what to make for my family. The pressure of picking something everyone will enjoy can be overwhelming.

That’s why today, I’m excited to share one of my go-to recipes that always comes to the rescue: a simple, delicious one-skillet dish that’s packed with flavor. It’s quick, easy, and guaranteed to be a hit at the dinner table. I’m sure your family will love it just as much as mine does!

Hillshire Sausage and Rice Skillet

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages Hillshire Sausage, sliced
  • ½ cup green bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 can (10 oz) mild diced tomatoes
  • 1 package (55 oz) Knorr Mushroom Blend Rice
  • 2 stalks scallions, sliced
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp salt (add more if needed)
  • ½ cup onions, chopped
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 cups water

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced Hillshire Sausage to the skillet and cook until lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onions, green bell pepper, and scallions. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, until softened.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juice), black pepper, and salt. Cook for 2 minutes to combine the flavors.
  5. Add the Knorr Mushroom Blend Rice and 2 cups of water to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.
  7. Once the rice is done, stir in the cooked sausage. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt if needed.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy your flavorful sausage and rice dish!
